SYNOPSIS
Video Musics is a video opera loosely based on Hungarian mythology and folk tales. It is made up of six interlocking video songs.
It is before the beginning of time. The world is covered in endless rolling rocking waves. The magical mystical Mother/Father sit on their thrones with the Daughter/Son before them.
The Daughter/Son asks, “Is it not time for the world to unwind, land mass to unhatch create worlds to shine?”
The Mother/Father explain that there are magical eggs/eyes at the bottom of the sea and that the Daughter/Son must fetch them and bring them to the surface.
The Mother/Father grant the Daughter/Son wings and the child flies out over the waves. The Daughter/Son dives down to the bottom of the sea and collects the eggs/eyes. When the Daughter/Son brings the eggs/eyes to the surface, they hatch and the world is created.
Clement Mason leaves his wife and newborn son to go and build the castle Deva. Before he leaves, he gives his son a scarf and says: “This scarf will turn red if I befall an ill fate.”
Clement meets up with eleven other masons and they start building the castle for the payment of two bushels of silver and two bushels of gold.
The walls the masons build by noon, fall by night and the walls they build by night, fall by morning. They decide the only way to make the walls strong enough is to build themselves into the walls.
They draw straws and two masons are picked to receive the four bushels of payment. The rest of the masons (including Clement) are built into the walls and die. The castle is finished.
The beautiful Princess Zuska has reached the age of marrying. The King of the Castle Deva sends out word near and far that all who think they are worthy of his daughter’s hand in marriage should come to the castle to be tested.
Hordes of lords and dukes come to the gate. Princess Zuska walks onto her balcony and throws a magical golden apple in the sky that then disappears from sight. The suitors try and try again, but none can catch the apple.
A poor boy in a bright red scarf (Clement’s son) shows up and wants to try for the Princess’ hand. The suitors ridicule him but the Princess insists that he is given a fair chance.
She throws the apple and it appears in the poor boy’s hand.
The King is outraged and develops a plan to thwart the boy. The King says, “You have only passed the first test of two. If you can guard my rabbits, I’ll marry my daughter to you. If not, then I will take your life.”
The boy agrees despairingly since he has no knowledge of rabbits and has no idea how to shepherd them.
Then out of nowhere, The Rabbit Spirit appears to the boy and gives him a magical whistle that will call all the rabbits to him. With the whistle, the boy is able to herd the rabbits and passes his second test.
His victory is short lived. When he enters the castle, his father Clement’s spirit, which has been built into the wall, recognizes him. Clement’s heart breaks, causing the castle to fall to pieces. Everyone dies except for Princess Zuska who falls into a portal.
Zuska is transported to outer space and the future. This chapter is a dreamlike video following Zuska’s travels.
Zuska meets up with Brimstone Blaine, a space cowboy card shark.
Blaine and Zuska find themselves deep in a game of gin rummy against two ghosts where they stand to gain a bushel of silver and a bushel of gold and stand to loose their souls. The ghosts are dominating the game and things look dark for Blaine and Zuska.
Zuska covertly grabs Blaine’s rocket cycle ship keys and goes to the bathroom. In the bathroom she escapes out the window and busts into the saloon on Blaine’s rocket cycle ship.
The two of them escape the pursuing ghosts and Blain drops Zuska off on earth.
Zuska returns to a post-apocalyptic world that is a vacated ghost town. She discovers an underground world haunted by ghost children.
She then finds a green gleam in the cracks of the fiber of the underground world. She swims through the green and finds herself in a body of water.
From the sky, the Daughter/Son (from Rock Waves) flies down to the shore. Zuska swims to the shore.
Zuska and the Daughter/Son embrace and make love forming into one being. From this new being’s womb, water rushes and covers the earth in endless rolling rocking waves.
